The great land grab for personal, political and corporate gains
The great land grab of India
Be it the Raman Singh-led BJP government in Chhattisgarh,
Be it the Raman Singh-led BJP government in Chhattisgarh,
BJP Govt of Madhya Prades ,
Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in Uttar Pradesh,
Biju's BJD govt in Orissa,
previous CPI(M)-led Left Front government's initiatives in West Bengal , they have all , for the immediate personal and political gains , overlooked the rights of the farmers and tribal land rights by taking up huge industrialisation and infrastructure projects
They have ignored the livelihood concerns of these land based communities,
-leading to unjust agricultural and forest land acquisition ,
-displacement of local and tribal communities,
-economic and social marginalisation of farming communities
-increasing risk of environmental hazards
-and increase in the number of landless labourers

Paintings of Rabindranath Tagore
Tagore show
Tagore known for his literary works across the globe was also a versed painter, a facet of his not much known to the world.
From 1928 onwards, Rabindranath began to paint images laden with memory and fantasy. He used very simple material – any available paper, coloured ink, crayon, gouache pigment, brush, rags and fingers with frenzy. He painted heads, figures, bizarre animals and flora, and landscapes of the mind.” It took India time to ‘accept' him as an artist. Tagore had his first show of painting in the early 1930s in Calcutta (now Kolkata) to a lukewarm response.
The National Gallery for Modern Art (NGMA), New Delhi, is celebrating it with a unique art exhibition titled “Circle of Art: The Three Tagores”.

Annihilating caste and Ambedkar
Annihilating caste
Baba saheb Ambedkar in his time took lot of initiatives to overcome the caste barriers and hurdles that most poor indians were facing.
He tried his best with the then British government to create a seperate electorate for the lower caste marginalised Indians , so as to bring them up in he political and educational circle of country, but he could not suceed.Yet his efforts have not gone in vain.
The less priviledged have been able to come up the creamy layer because of his efforts.
Ironically in India Where politics has its tentacles spread into every nook and corner of the Indian society, one sees caste based politics and caste and sub caste based ooganizations flourishing just to gain the vote bank , much less for the development of the marginalised.
According to Ambedkar, caste destroyed the concept of ethics and morality. To quote him: “The effect of caste on the ethics of the Hindus is simply deplorable. Caste has killed public spirit. Caste has destroyed the sense of public charity. Caste has made public opinion impossible. A Hindu's public is his caste. His responsibility is to his caste. His loyalty is restricted only to his caste. Virtue has become caste-ridden, and morality has become caste-bound.”

China Boss in Peru on $50 Billion Peak Bought for $810 Million
Chinese mining investments of $11 billion for Peru project , for mining copper as chinese demand for the metal soars up.
Chinese state-owned mining company will tear down the peak in Peru's town of Morococha, 103-year-old mining town with $50 billion deposit of ore underneath , to ship home the copper and leaving behind a crater 800 meters (2,600 feet) deep and a third larger than New York City's Central Park . The mountain village's population of 5,397 will be relocated . Many don't want to leave.
As chinese economy surges many mining treasures are being searched for meeting its copper needs.
This precious metal's global demand is stated to exceed its supply by 11 million tons by 2035 .

That represents a potential doubling of the domestic market for autos, appliances, televisions and other consumer goods.

Abundant riches of the Indian millionaires never trickles-down -poor CSR efforts
All the CSR efforts of most private Indian companies seem to have a mask. A mask of protecting their vested interests , of tax relaxations and making profits.
there are very few , who are doing the real good work, rest all give back a miniscule of what they have scavenged from the public.
Growth-obsessed economists continuously propagate the theory that abundant riches will invariably have a trickle-down effect; the truth is that it rarely occurs. While we gloat over disputable figures on poverty alleviation, the real serious threat of an unequal society is quietly glossed over. So the often paraded maxim: push the bottom of the pyramid upwards without dragging down the upper echelons. Poverty, in reality, should never be measured in percentages, but in actual head-count

Earth may enter a Little Ice Age within a decade
Earth may enter a Little Ice Age within a decade:
Solar activity rises and falls about every 11 years, which is half of the 22-year sunspot cycle. The current cycle is now supposed to be ramping up, but so far results have been most disappointing.
Sunspots, the enormous magnetic storms that erupt on the sun's surface as the cycle builds, might disappear entirely for the first time since the Maunder Minimum, almost 400 years ago.
The Maunder Minimum, a 70-year period from 1645 to 1715 when virtually no sunspots appeared, coincided with the Little Ice Age.

Ship-borne sea-floor mapping technology is enabling scientists working to understand the eruption and collapse of volcanoes under sea surface.
This new technology will enable scientists to understand the Evolution of Earth and also provide extremely valuable information concerning disasters like Tsunami.
12 volcanoes beneath the sea surface — some up to 3km (1.86 miles) high. They found 5km (3 mile) diameter craters left by collapsing volcanoes and 7 active volcanoes visible above the sea as a chain of islands.

The Lord is the portion of mine inheritance
"The Lord is the portion of mine inheritance, and of my cup; thou maintainest my lot. The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage."
Psalm 16: 5, 6
King James Version
"And the Lord gave them rest round about;... the Lord delivered all their enemies into their hand" (Joshua 21:44).
And search in vain for bliss;
My soul is satisfied at home,
The Lord my portion is.
2. Jesus, who on his glorious throne
Rules heav'n and earth and sea;
Is pleased to claim me for his own,
And give himself to me.
Rules heav'n and earth and sea;
Is pleased to claim me for his own,
And give himself to me.
3. His person fixes all my love,
His blood removes my fear;
And while he pleads for me above,
His arm preserves me here.
4. His word of promise is my food,His blood removes my fear;
And while he pleads for me above,
His arm preserves me here.
His Spirit is my guide;
Thus daily is my strength renewed
And all my wants supplied.
5. For him I count as gain each loss,
Disgrace, for him, renown;
Well may I glory in his cross,
While he prepares my crown!
Disgrace, for him, renown;
Well may I glory in his cross,
While he prepares my crown!
Settle into your quiet place of prayer and meditate
What sin is Satan trying to remind you of? Is it lying or adultery or abortion or jealousy or bitterness or resentment or unforgiveness or child molestation or abuse? Is it ingratitude or prayerlessness or pridefulness or casualness or hypocrisy or a critical spirit? When Satan comes to remind you of your sin, remind him that your sin has been forgiven and your guilt has been atoned for - at the Cross!
It has been covered by the blood of Jesus, and you bear it no more! When Satan tries to dig up your forgiven past, settle into your quiet place of prayer and meditate on the words of [an] old hymn:
Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
Let this blest assurance control,
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
And hath shed His own blood for my soul.
It is well with my soul,
It is well with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.
My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!

Angels
AAngels are commissioned by Divine Providence to guard the human race and be present with every man to protect him from injury. As parents, when their children have occasion to travel a dangerous way, infested by robbers, appoint persons to guard and assist them in case of attack, so has our Heavenly Father placed angels over each of us, in our journey towards our heavenly country, that guarded by their vigilant care and assistance we may escape the ambushes and repel the fierce attacks of our enemies, proceed directly on our journey, secured by this guiding protection against the devious paths into which our treacherous enemy would mislead us, and pursue steadily the path that leads to heavenngels http://catholicharboroffaithandmorals.com/Guardian.html

The plight of Canadian Natives
European colonists wiped off the Native inhabitants of Northern America in several ways which included distributing Smallpox infected blankets, seizing their Territories, --a planned genocide. The natives of the land who settled by the way of Berring Bridge , who ruled for centuries, practicing peacefully their own way of life.
It is moving, to read the feelings of the descendants of the Native, who still feel strangers in Canada, their ancestral land , when the rest of the country celebrates Canada Day.They see this as day, when their freedom was seized and not as a day of freedom and fireworks.
Every Canada Day, I reflect on the continual theft of my land and resources, on broken treaties, on the genocide of my peoples and the refusal to recognize my sovereignty........I will be commemorating the sickness, starvation and death of my ancestors, as a result of colonization and greed, to make way Canadians to have all that they have today.........

Hans Christian Anderson Quotes
"To be of use to the world is the only way to be happy. "
How true is this first quote of Hans Christian Anderson.Nothing else provides contentment to a man than being of use to his fellow beings in whatever vocation.
"The whole world is a series of miracles, but we're so used to them we call them ordinary things"
"Almighty God, thee only have I; thou steerest my fate, I must give myself up to thee! Give me a livelihood! Give me a bride! My blood wants love, as my heart does!"
"Life is like a beautiful melody, only the lyrics are messed up."
"If you looked down to the bottom of my soul, you would understand fully the source of my longing and – pity me. Even the open, transparent lake has its unknown depths, which no divers know."
“Every man's life is a fairy tale written by God's fingers”
“Where words fail, music speaks.”
"To travel is to live."
“Just living is not enough... One must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower.”
“Life itself is the most wonderful fairy tale.”

David Livingstone letter deciphered at last , I bow to the Divine hand that chastens me
David Livingstone letter deciphered at last
David Livingstone , the well known missionary , traveller and Explorer died in a quite an unknown death.
He has been credited with great travel discoveries, discovery of victoria falls, river Nile, Lake Nyasa, rivr Zambesi.He did pioneering medical work for his African brothers and lived his life dedicated for their service.He was also a well known abolitionist.Together with his wife, Mary Moffat , he lived to see his brothers of Africa lifted up.
He faced many odds , working in the Malaria torn, sleeping sickness infested jungles.He lost his wife in Africa after an illness of few days and it at that time that he felt the most lowest in his life.This man who had faced many dangers and odds , wept like a child.
He says" for the first time in my life iam willing to die.This heavy stroke quite takes the heart out of me......I try to bend to the blow as from our heavenly Father.......I shall do my duty.....I bow to the Divine hand that chastens me .God grant that I may learn the Lesson He means to teach!."
Back home, Livingstone's supporters were going mad with worry. No one had heard from him in years, and as Livingstone recovered, search parties set out into the interior to discover his fate. He was eventually located near the eastern shore of the massive Lake Tanganyika by journalist Henry Morton Stanley, whose memorable quip, "Dr. Livingstone, I presume?" immortalized their encounter.

Indian Black Money through Mauritius
Unaccounted wealth stashed overseas comes back through Mauritius
A lot of Fury and Fasts have bben pouring out in the Indian soil agaisnt the piles of Black currency notes of unaccounted wealth of Indian big wigs.
Corruption has slowed down the progress of my country and everyone in politics seems to have dirtied his hands in it to stock up this pile of cash.
It is truly unfortunate that the nation which once was spearheaded by Mahatma Gandhi is knee deep in the dark waters of Black money, corruption and poverty.
Will the govt do something against the Tax Heavens usage for dumping the excess unaccounted wealth?

God is in every tomorrow, Therefore I live for today
1st of July 2011
Todays begining was wrought with thoughts , which seemed to clip my aspirations.
Sometimes circumstances close the rainbow behind the cloud.Then i was busy with my work, fatigued but suddenly amidst hopelessness came a fleeting thought of going back to God, with whom i had a clash of arguments and had come out waving my hand in despair.
Somedays , every corner looks with no way out, it looks as though your plans may not take wings, you waited and waited, and dreamed , but will it ever happen.
Heart turns soar and cheer disappears, but at moments of despair, something prompts you to look at the Face of the Saviour who holds your way and then my heart slowly tries to understand,
This is my motivation for today.
The desires of heart may see no way out,
odds may not favour my way
but my sailor is smart and wise
and knows to set my sails
in the way the wind flows
He knows to change the winds as well
how did i lose my hope
and thought to shut those yearnings in
nay, i will look upto Him
He is my Light when darkness sets in
and He will chart my course.

There is no storm hath power to blast The tree God knows
The wind that blows can never kill
The tree God plants;
It bloweth east, it bloweth west,
The tender leaves have little rest,
But any wind that blows is best.
The tree that God plants
Strikes deeper root, grows higher still,
Spreads greater boughs, for God's good will
Meets all its wants.
There is no storm hath power to blast
The tree God knows;
No thunderbolt, nor beating rain,
Nor lightning flash, nor hurricane;
When they are spent, it doth remain,
The tree God knows,
Through every tempest standeth fast,
And from its first day to its last
Still fairer grows.

Wait patiently wait, God never is late;
Wait patiently wait,
God never is late;
Thy budding plans are in Thy Father's holding,
And only wait His grand divine unfolding.
Then wait, wait,
Patiently wait.
Trust, hopefully trust,
That God will adjust
Thy tangled life; and from its dark concealings,
Will bring His will, in all its bright
revealings.
Then trust, trust,
Hopefully trust.
Rest, peacefully rest
On thy Saviour's breast;
Breathe in His ear thy sacred high ambition,
And He will bring it forth in blest fruition.
Then rest, rest,
Peacefully rest! --Mercy A. Gladwin
